Gov. Mark Dayton will visit the scene of Thursday’s propane tanker truck-train collision in Callaway. A Canadian Pacific rail freight train hit a truck in Callaway at a crossing causing an explosion that could be felt up to 15 miles away. Becker County Sheriff Todd Glander says the fact that there were only two minor injuries is a miracle and adds, “It could have been a whole lot worse and we are so thankful with the outcome. Yeah this event, and this goes for all the cities with rail roads, that it could be, it could have been a whole lot worse.”
The only two injuries of the collision belonged to the trains crew, both have been released from the hospital. The citizens of Callaway were briefly evacuated and resident Ken Blattenbauer said the evacuation notice was scary but “whoever was the head of it, was real good, they did a good job and thanks for that in a small town like this.”
