Governor Tim Walz talks to students at North Junior High School in Saint Cloud this morning, on his second day of roundtables about the increasing problem of youth vaping. Tuesday at Hopkins High School one student told the governor, the way her generation sees it, the number of deaths from vaping are much lower than from cigarettes or alcohol. But she said, “As a generation we’re not recognizing that, how long did it take to get to that many deaths a year for smoking? How many years did it take for that many deaths for alcohol? And how short of time did it take to get to [the first deaths from] vaping?”
Officials are searching for ways to get more information to young people about the dangers of vaping after several deaths in Minnesota. The governor visits Faribault High School tomorrow.
