Minnesota has a new first dog — Scout, a three-month-old black lab mix — and Governor Tim Walz introduced Minnesotans to the newest member of their family this afternoon (Thurs) at the Governor’s Residence in Saint Paul. When Walz announced his campaign for governor, he and First Lady Gwen Walz promised their son Gus that they’d adopt a dog if he Walz won the election. Scout comes from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, and was discovered in a box, abandoned in Oklahoma. The governor says he hopes Scout — who has been a very good boy — serves as a reminder for Minnesotans that there are a lot of pups waiting to be adopted.
