“A good step forward” says Governor Tim Walz about the Minnesota Senate passing legislation that would require hands-free cell phone use while driving, with some exceptions. Walz says, “I’m kind of a zero-sum on this that I think “no touch” is maybe the way to go but, as I said earlier, the House and Senate… have worked in this case of going through the process. They’ll get me something that I’m sure I can sign.”
The House bill has exceptions for one-touch activation and emergencies. The Senate version allows GPS use, and cell phones could be tucked under a head scarf (hijab) or other clothing.
