Joseph Thoreson is accused of beheading David Haiman with a machete
A 22-year-old woman from Grand Rapids who was with her boyfriend when he allegedly beheaded an Iron Range man has been charged with second-degree murder as an accomplice. Prosecutors say 35-year-old Joseph Thoreson cut off the head of 20-year-old David Haiman with a machete after the woman — Thoreson’s girlfriend — said she had been raped by Haiman. Itasca County authorities say they can’t confirm or deny whether the sexual assault occurred but are investigating.
