The Coalition of Greater Minnesota Cities gives thumbs-up to Governor Mark Dayton’s bonding proposal that includes 167 million dollars for clean water infrastructure programs. Granite Falls Mayor Dave Smiglewski says it’s a good start, but warns if that number is reduced in negotiations with the legislature, “How do we possibly take care of aging sewers, aging water lines, aging treatment plants?… The cities can’t afford to do everything themselves.” Clean water is one of the governor’s top priorities. Republicans say the state budget can’t afford his bonding proposal and they’re talking about a significantly smaller bill.
