Vikings K Greg Joseph has been named NFC Special Teams Player of the Week, the NFL announced today.

In the 27-24 victory over the New York Giants in Week 16, Joseph was perfect on all his kicks, making three extra points and connecting on both of his field goals, including a team-record-long 61-yard game-winning field goal. His 61-yard field goal was also the longest made in the NFL in Week 16 and the second-longest made this season, behind only Kansas City’s Harrison Butker who made a 62-yarder in Week 6.

Joseph has connected on five game-winning field goals this season, tying John Kasay (2003) and Jan Stenerud (1983) for the most game-winning field goals made in single season in NFL history. Joseph has made 10 field goals of at least 50 yards as a Viking, the third-most in team history, trailing only Blair Walsh (24) and Ryan Longwell (11).

The accolade marks Joseph’s second Special Teams Player of the Week award, joining Cameron Dicker (LAC) as the only kickers to win the award more than once this season. The Vikings have earned four Special Teams Player of the Week awards this season, the most in team history, and for the first time in club history, have had three different players earn this honor in a single season. Six different players have earned Player of the Week awards this season, tied for the most in team history (1992, 1995). It is the seventh NFC Player of the Week award under Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell, the most by a first-year head coach in franchise history.
