DFL-endorsed candidate for governor Erin Murphy questions Minneapolis officers’ actions that resulted in the shooting death of Thurman Blevins in north Minneapolis. Murphy says after watching the body-cam video, her task now is, “Give careful thought to what we’re seeing in that video and the initial aggressive reaction from the get-go, and how that contributed to the end of Mr. Blevins’ life.”
Murphy argues the state should better train officers in de-escalation tactics. Her G-O-P rivals, Jeff Johnson and Tim Pawlenty, both indicate the officers’ actions were appropriate.
