Hastings to coach World Juniors

May 30, 2018 By Minnesota News Network

Minnesota State-Mankato hockey coach Mike Hastings has been hired as head coach of the 2019 U.S. National Junior Team.

USA Hockey said Tuesday that Hastings will move up from assistant coach. The move comes after David Quinn, who was hired as head coach of the team in April, became coach of the New York Rangers last week.

The team will take part in the 2019 World Junior Championship from Dec. 26-Jan. 5 in Vancouver and Victoria, British Columbia.

Hastings was assistant coach on the 2003 and 2005 U.S. junior squad. He twice served as head coach for the U.S. Junior Select Team, helping the team win gold at the 2000 Viking Cup.
