Despite clearing a backlog of complaints against senior care facilities in Minnesota, abuse problems persist — Health Department officials told state lawmakers at a Tuesday hearing. Republican Senator Mark Koran from North Branch responded, “We’ve investigated and resolved the backlog of complaints… but if I just look at the simple math, the effectiveness of the investigations hasn’t yielded any improvement in complaints…. Something’s seriously wrong.”
Dayton administration officials say the state Health Department can’t correct the problem on its own — that the next legislature and governor must get involved to review regulations and increase funding.
