Officials in northeast Minnesota’s Saint Louis County are urging the public to double-down on COVID precautions after an outbreak in Ely. That community reported 33 additional confirmed cases in the past week — 15 percent of the total cases in the entire county. Anyone who’s had close contact with a confirmed case — within six feet for 15 minutes or longer — should quarantine for 14 days whether or not they have symptoms. Those who are fully vaccinated — at least two weeks after the second Pfizer dose or after one dose of Johnson-and-Johnson — do not have to quarantine unless they have symptoms of COVID.
