Each year, more than 16,000 Minnesotans suffer a first heart attack or stroke and health officials statewide are getting the word out about the “Ask About Aspirin” initiative.
University of Minnesota Health Professor Dr. Russell Luepker says the goal is “to encourage people to talk to their doctor about whether they should be taking low-dose aspiring to prevent a heart attack or stroke.” Luepker says aspirin doesn’t work for everyone, that’s why it’s important to ask.
The program’s aim is to prevent around 10,000 first heart attacks and strokes in Minnesota.
