High school lacrosse season remains in limbo (AUDIO)

April 7, 2020 By Minnesota News Network

(Chanhassen, MN) — The Minnesota high school lacrosse season should be into its second week this week, but of course, the spring sports season at the high school level remains on hold during this “stay-at-home” time. Jim Junker is the boys’ lacrosse coach at Chanhassen High School and is the past president and current board member of the Minnesota Boys Lacrosse Coaches Association. He says keeping his players engaged and connected is his main goal right . He says an additional frustration with the entire situation is the weather has been nice and it would have been close to ideal for practices and games to be playing now. He says in recent years poor weather has hampered the start of the lacrosse season. Junker says he believes his players are taking things “surprisingly well” and holding in there. He admits the seniors are disappointed, but they’ve been leaders and are trying to stay strong for the rest of the team. For now, the earliest any high school teams can get back to practicing is May 4th.

Jim Junker spoke with MNN Sports Director Mike Grimm:
