“Devastating.” That’s what Hospitality Minnesota’s Liz Rammer calls Governor Walz’s expected announcement that indoor dining at bars and restaurants will remain on “pause” through the holiday season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Rammer says “this is a critical time of year as we know for this industry–hospitality businesses–make really, they get in the black with 40% of their sales in some cases coming this time of year, so to extend this further, we have just taken away Christmas for all of these folks.” Rammer is calling on Walz to reconsider. And she says the COVID data doesn’t support the governor’s decision adding “it is quite obvious that this sector, bar and restaurant group, in particular, has been really unfairly targeted.” Rammer says “hospitality is a force for good in our communities, and the Governor would be wise to leverage that force, rather than watch it flicker out.”
