Minnesota House Republicans tried Thursday night to cancel Governor Tim Walz’s COVID emergency powers on closing schools but Democrats wouldn’t let the bill come up for a vote. They point out that under the governor’s order, a number of districts have been able to re-open schools with appropriate safety precautions. Little Falls Republican Ron Kresha says in theory, a school district maybe could find a way to open up — but “what the sentiment… in Minnesota right now is, if you step out of line, the governor’s coming to get you.”
