Republicans in the Minnesota House are trying to stop the state Commerce Department’s legal challenge to the Enbridge Line 3 pipeline project, but Democrats won’t agree to it. Chair Laurie Halverson says her committee is continuing to build its schedule and they don’t have the bill scheduled at this time.
Republican Dan Fabian from Roseau contends an upgraded Line 3 pipeline is much safer than the alternative. He says, “Just recently in Carlos, Minnesota there was a train derailment. Luckily, nothing too serious happened. The next train in line, members, was an oil train.”
Governor Tim Walz decided to continue predecessor Mark Dayton’s legal challenge to the Line 3 project.
