The Department of Public Safety Homeland Security and Emergency Management Division are in Beltrami and Clearwater Counties today and tomorrow assessing recent wind damage.
Local emergency managers estimate nearly $290,000 damage in each county, including on the Leech Lake and White Earth Reservations. Beltrami saw three straight days of thunderstorms starting on July 19th resulting in downed tress and power lines and roofs being blown off of buildings. A severe wind storm caused similar damage in Clearwater County on July 21st.
The damages do not meet federal requirements for FEMA’s Public Assistance Program, but they could qualify for reimbursement through the Minnesota State Disaster Assistance Program.
