Hundreds are expected along Lake Superior in Duluth today (130pm start) for a rally and march against Enbridge’s proposed Line 3 pipeline. It comes the day after the state Pollution Control Agency at least temporarily denied Enbridge’s request for federal Clean Water Act certification, saying additional information is necessary. The state Court of Appeals ordered a “re-do” of the environmental impact statement for Line 3, saying it didn’t adequately examine the effect of a possible oil spill on the Lake Superior watershed. On Tuesday, state regulators will discuss how to proceed with a “re-do” of the E-I-S.
Backers of the project say Line 3 has had rigorous environmental review and will clear these procedural hurdles and move forward.
