Minnesota National Guard members and Xcel Energy crews are helping restore calm and power in Florida, following landfall of Hurricane Irma. Millions are without electricity this morning. Irma has now been downgraded now to a tropical storm, but its impact will be felt for days and weeks to come. Elk River native Jeni McIntyre moved to Cape Coral, Florida two months ago. As of Friday afternoon, she had planned to stay in her home and ride the storm out, but as conditions worsened, she changed her mind and evacuated the area. MNN’s Scott Peterson chatted with McIntyre about the experience.
