“Disappointing,” says Republican state Representative Ron Kresha about the drop in Minnesota students’ reading scores on standardized tests, and scores also dropping or staying flat in math. He says, “When we have true success, let’s celebrate it — but when we’re seeing dropping math scores like this, that’s certainly telling us that there are some policy improvements and some things that we can do better.”
Kresha, from Little Falls, says the state should target funding to make quality pre-school available in struggling areas of the state. Democrats on the other hand support univeral pre-kindergarten. It’s become a perennial issue at the Minnesota Legislature.
