Timberwolves Notes
Player Notes
• Jaden McDaniels led the way for the Timberwolves tonight with a game-high and career-high (regular season or postseason) 32 points on 13-of-25 shooting, a series-high-tying 10 rebounds, three assists, a game-high-tying two steals and zero turnovers, marking his first 30+ point/10+ rebound playoff game of his career. McDaniels is the second player in franchise playoff history to record 30+ points/10+ rebounds/2+ steals, joining Kevin Garnett, who did so five times.

• McDaniels is the first player to record 30+ points/10+ rebounds/2+ steals and 0 turnovers in an NBA Playoff game since Jayson Tatum did so on May 14, 2023 vs. Philadelphia (51 points/13 rebounds/2 steals/0 turnovers) and first Western Conference player to do so since Kobe Bryant on June 2, 2002 at Sacramento (30 points/10 rebounds/2 steals/0 turnovers).

• In making his first career playoff start, Terrence Shannon Jr finished with the night with a playoff career-high 24 points, a playoff career-high six rebounds and no turnovers, marking his first career playoff game with 20+ point/5+ rebound. His 24 points were the fourth-most points scored in franchise playoff history by a player making his first career playoff start.

• Shannon Jr becomes the third NBA player since the 1999-00 season to record 24+ points and zero turnovers in his first career NBA start, joining Tyrese Maxey (April 16, 2022 vs. Toronto: 38 points and 0 zero turnovers) and Gerald Wallace (April 18, 2010 at Orlando: 25 points and 0 turnovers).

• Rudy Gobert added 10 points on 4-of-6 shooting, a game-high 13 rebounds, a playoff career-high eight assists (ties his regular season career-high) and zero turnovers, marking his first double-double of this year’s playoffs and the 44th such game of his career. Tonight also marked his first career playoff game with 10+ points/10+ rebounds/5+ assists, becoming the fifth player in franchise playoff history to record such a game and joins Garnett (nine times) as the only other player to record such a game with multiple blocks.

• Gobert joins Nikola Jokić (April 27, 2019 vs. San Antionio) as the only centers in NBA playoff history to record 10+ rebounds/8+ assists and 2+ blocks without a turnover.

• With six of Gobert’s boards coming on the offensive glass, his performance marked the fourth time in franchise playoff history a player recorded 6+ rebounds and 6+ assists.

Team Notes
• Minnesota is now 8-2 (.800) at home in playoff games over the last two seasons. The only teams with better home records in the playoffs in that span are Toronto (2-0) and Oklahoma City (13-2).

• With the Wolves closing out their first round series against the Nuggets tonight at Target Center in Game 6 and the Minnesota Wild eliminating the Dallas Stars in Game 6 in St. Paul tonight, the Wolves and Wild become the seventh pair of NBA and NHL teams from the same metropolitan area to close out a seven-game playoff series on the same day, the third pair to do so both at home and the first pair to do so both in a Game 6. This marks only the second time both teams did it at home (1983 Celtics games were both at Boston Garden).

• Tonight’s win marked Minnesota’s 22nd playoff win in the last three seasons. The Timberwolves had 21 playoff wins in the previous 34 seasons.

• Tonight marked Minnesota’s 100th playoff game in franchise history and the first time they clinched a series in Game 6. The Wolves are now advancing to the second round of the NBA Playoffs for a franchise record third consecutive seasons.

• Following tonight’s win, the Timberwolves are now 5-1 in their last six close out games.
