A high-visibility issue — help for Minnesotans who can’t afford their insulin — is among the unresolved items as state lawmakers begin the new year. The legislative session begins February 11th and Hamline University analyst David Schultz says chances of a special session before that are “clearly nil.” Schultz says, “I could very well see the insulin issue becoming one of those dividing issues that takes us into the 2020 election: that each side points the finger at the other saying that you refused to cooperate. I actually can see a recipe out there for this not getting resolved until after the 2020 election.”
The major sticking-point between Democrats and Republicans is whether insulin manufacturers should help pay for the program.
