(St. Paul, MN) — The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) is investigating after a Pioneer Press report that an MPCA staffer disparaged the Sandpiper oil pipeline project in emails sent to activists who opposed the pipeline. The proposed pipeline would bring North Dakota oil across Minnesota into Wisconsin. Governor Dayton says the emails were cause for an investigation. MPCA Deputy Commissioner Michelle Beeman says the agency is “committed to the integrity” of the process and is looking at the larger context of the entire project before commenting on the appropriateness of the email statements.
