Commissioner Mark Phillips asks the Iron Range Resources and Rehabilitation Board this morning to spend up to 50 thousand dollars to set up a nonprofit called “Range Trust” to handle taconite tax money, so it’s not raided for other areas of the state. Republican Senator Jeremy Miller from Winona wants guarantees the funds will only go for economic development and job creation. I-Triple-R-B Commissioner Phillips responds, “That would be part of the charter or the by-laws that would only allow them to do that. We have to write the by-laws. They have not been written yet.”
