Iconic sign marks Mississippi River headwaters
Over 200 fourth-graders from Bagley and Park Rapids elementary schools will be at Itasca State Park tomorrow (Wed) to sing “Happy 125th Birthday” to Minnesota’s first and oldest state park. The D-N-R’s Pat Arndt says crossing the headwaters of the Mississippi River has become a rite of passage for Minnesotans, and many people remember when they were young, going with their family up to Itasca State Park. Tomorrow’s festivities will be followed by special events throughout the year at Minnesota state parks and trails.
