It’s “Cyber Security Awareness Month” in Minnesota. State officials are reminding Internet users to watch for scams aimed at gathering information about your identity or finances. MNIT Services Communications Director Cambray Crozier says you don’t have to be a computer expert to create a strong password or to spot phishing attempts to harvest your personal data and adds “this is a good month that we can take the time to learn some safety tips that any Minnesotan can do to contribute to a safe online environment for everyone.” Crozier says, in particular, watch out for spelling mistakes and poor grammar, vague salutations like “dear valued customer”, requests for personal or work credentials a via email, threatening or urgent language or attachments that you weren’t expecting. Here’s more of MNN’s Scott Peterson’s interview with Cambray Crozier on “Cyber Security Awareness Month”.
