JBS USA announced today the indefinite closure of its Worthington pork production facility. Just over 25 of the workers at the JBS pork plant in Nobles County and five of their relatives had tested positive for COVID-19. Last week Governor Tim Walz said protecting workers at these types of facilities is incredibly important. Walz’s concerns were due to an outbreak in a South Dakota pork processing plant just across the border from Nobles County. The JBS facility employs more than 2,000 Nobles County team members and processes 20,000 hogs per day. More details are expected later this afternoon when Governor Walz updates the state on COIVD-19.
