An Olmsted County judge has approved the involuntary commitment of a Rochester woman who tried to kill her children earlier this year. A psychological evaluation determined 33-year-old Farhiyo Abdullahi was suffering from schizophrenia. Investigators say she stopped using her medication in August and, less than two months later, put her five young children in her car and filled it with exhaust fumes until some of the children became ill. She said during the psychological evaluation that she hid her mental illness from social workers because she did not want to lose her children.
