A judge has struck down Governor Mark Dayton’s vetoes of funding for the Minnesota Legislature, which he did to try to force Republicans to reconsider just-enacted tax cuts. House Speaker, Republican Kurt Daudt is asking the governor to accept the court’s decision and *not* appeal. Daudt says, “I think the governor did not have a strong case from the very beginning…. This is the sort of thing they teach in law school to new attorneys as an example of something being unconstitutional.” Dayton indicated earlier that he *would* appeal, saying, “Both sides recognize that this is ultimately a matter that should be decided for the sake of Minnesota for now and for the future by the Minnesota Supreme Court.”
