Jury selection is set to resume this morning (Tuesday 9 a-m) in the trial of the ex-Minneapolis police officer accused of kneeling on George Floyd’s neck for eight minutes. The judge put the case on hold Monday as he awaits word from the Minnesota Court of Appeals on whether to allow a third-degree murder charge against Derek Chauvin. Fifteen of 50 prospective jurors were dismissed for “cause.” Hundreds of demonstrators filled the streets near the Hennepin County Courthouse yesterday to demand justice for Floyd. Public safety officials thanked the protesters for being peaceful on day one in downtown Minneapolis.
