(Mankato, MN) — Jury selection gets underway today (MON) in the murder trial of Levi Minissale (minn-SOL-ee) in Mankato. The 25-year old Minneapolis man and former Afghanistan veteran is charged in the knife-slaying of 20-year old Yesenia Gonzales and the attempted murder of her husband in June of 2013. The jury will first decide if Minissale is guilty or innocent, and if guilty, then if Minissale was mentally ill. It could be a long trial. Blue Earth County Attorney Pat McDermott. Minissale has been held at a secure institution awaiting this trial after being found mentally ill and dangerous, but he has been found competent to stand trial.
