An Otter Tail County kitten has tested positive for rabies. The Minnesota Board of Animal Health says the kitten bit three people, including a four-year-old child and a pregnant woman. The owner of the farm where the kitten was fed says she saw a skunk attacking the kitten in October. After biting the child and the woman earlier this month, the kitten was then euthanized and tested positive for rabies. Dr. Courtney Wheeler with the Board of Animal Health says skunks have a “very high probability of carrying the rabies virus.” Dr. Wheeler says anyone who observes a pet or livestock interacting with a skunk should contact their veterinarian and the Minnesota Board of Animal Health for recommendations.
