Klobuchar in 5th place in Iowa caucuses with 62 percent of results in

February 4, 2020 By Bill Werner

With just under two-thirds of the results now being reported from last night’s (Mon) Iowa caucuses, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar remains in fifth place, capturing 12.6 percent of the delegates so far among Hawkeye State Democrats. Pete Buttigieg (BOOT-edge-edge) leads at nearly 27 percent, with Bernie Sanders close behind. Elizabeth Warren and Joe Biden are next, both under 20 percent. Hamline University analyst David Schultz says it’s *not* good news for Klobuchar. “She needed to have two things happen coming out of the Iowa caucuses: First, given how much of an emphasis she put upon it, she needed to come in the top three…. Equally as important, she needed to come ahead of Mayor Pete Buttigieg,” Schultz says.

There was no immediate statement from Klobuchar, who’s been campaigning in New Hampshire ahead of that state’s February 11th primary.
