Klobuchar will hit 99 Iowa county goal Friday, still lags in Hawkeye State polls

December 23, 2019 By Bill Werner

Amy Klobuchar’s campaign says on Friday the Minnesota senator and Democratic presidential hopeful will reach her goal of visiting all 99 counties in Iowa. The campaign is touting she’s the first top-tier candidate to do so. About two weeks ago Klobuchar hit double digits for the first time in Iowa with 10 percent in an Emerson poll, but the latest poll by Iowa State University shows her at only four percent — well behind Iowa front-runner Pete Buttigieg at 24 percent. Bernie Sanders is close behind at 21 percent, followed by Elizabeth Warren (18) and Joe Biden (15). In most national polls Klobuchar has shown up in the low single digits. Her campaign announced Friday that she has qualified for the seventh Democratic presidential debate on January 14th in Des Moines.
