Waves off Lake Superior driven by wind gusts up to 60 miles an hour have torn up sections of the Lakewalk in Duluth’s Canal Park, Dave Strandberg at affiliate K-D-A-L says, “Not only torn up but a lot of debris all over the Lakewalk as well, so the city has decided to close it up — as if people were down there anyway today in the snow and the driving winds. But just in case they had any thoughts about it, they’ve got some barricades up to keep people away from it.” Duluth got at least five inches of snow, breaking the daily snowfall record for this date.
