Lawmakers call for hearing on proposed AT&T/Time Warner Merger

Lawmakers are calling for a hearing on a proposed merger between media giants AT&T and Time Warner. U-S Senator Amy Klobuchar is the chair and ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy and Consumer Rights and says a merger like this is big deal…

“You’ve heard of these other deals that happened with Comcast and NBC or with AT&T and Direct TV–all of them pale in comparison to this. This is an $85 billion deal and when you have this type of consolidation, it’s usually not good for consumers.”

Klobuchar says big mergers like the one proposed here usually mean fewer choices for consumers. No date has been set for a hearing, but the senator is hopeful it can happen some time in November after the election.
