Lawmakers told Dayton administration officials Wednesday that continued trouble with the state’s new vehicle registration system is causing real problems for some Minnesotans. Waconia Representative Jim Nash says some people have asked him, what happens if I get pulled over and I can’t provide what the officer needs?” Public Safety Commissioner Mona Dohman responds they’ve notified law enforcement of the situation. She says, “Every officer in our state has the discretion to issue a citation or not. They also have the information to… check in with us.” Dohman says, in the unfortunate event that an officer does write a ticket, the individual is able to explain their situation in court.
