State DFL lawmakers are set to visit Lanesboro Dam today (Wed)to highlight the need for a bonding bill this legislative session. Representative Rick Hansen of South St. Paul will be joined by Representative David Bly of Northfield and others. Hansen says the dam is in desperate need of fixing and that “you see water shooting out of the dam face because it’s a very old and high hazard dam.” Republican Representative Greg Davids of Preston agrees that the dam in his district needs work, but counters that “for the DFL to say we need to fund the Lanesboro Dam, it’s very, very disingenuous, it does need to be funded, but I’ve had it funded and the DFL last year killed the funding for that project.”
Hansen says Minnesotans are tired of Republicans’ “end of session surprises”…

Democrats and Republicans continue to blame each other after the two sides were unable to come to an agreement on funding for state construction projects as last year’s legislative session ended.
