Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman has released a detailed statement, accompanied by court findings, which he says support the conviction of Myon Burrell in the 2002 murder of Tyesha Edwards. The 11-year-old was killed by a stray bullet while doing homework at her dining room table, but some news reports question whether Burrell was wrongly convicted during the watch of then-county attorney Amy Klobuchar, now U-S senator and Democratic presidential hopeful. A spokesperson for Klobuchar’s campaign said earlier the senator “has always believed in pursuing justice without fear or favor” and that Klobuchar has said any new evidence in the case should be immediately reviewed by the court.
