A highly critical report today on the I-Triple-R-B, the state’s economic development agency for the Iron Range. The legislative auditor says the agency has not adequately overseen loans and grants it awards. The review found the I-Triple-R-B does not require most companies to report the number of jobs they create using subsidies from the agency, and when job creation data *is* reported, it’s from companies that received the subsidies. The report also found large losses at Giants Ridge, a public golf and ski resort in Biwabik. A group of Iron Range lawmakers says they take the concerns very seriously, will review the findings and, if necessary, the legislature can take action.
