(Minneapolis, MN) – Royce Lewis smashed a two-run triple in the bottom of the ninth as the Minnesota Twins walked off the Kansas City Royals 3-2 in the series opener last night at Target Field. The Twins trailed by 2 heading into their last at bat in picking up a third straight win.
Kody Clemens would score in the fourth and on Josh Bell’s single as the Twins took a 1-0 lead. The Royals would respond and take a 2-1 in the sixth when Josh Rojas stole home on the front end of a double steal and Salvador Perez added an RBI single.
Taj Bradley took a no decision in the start tossing six innings. Jack Anderson picked up the win in relief.
The win puts the Twins back to 54-54, 2 games back in the AL Cental and a half game out of the Wild Card spot. Game 2 of the series is set for a 6:40 first pitch at Target Field tonight.
