A woman from Lewiston in southeast Minnesota is charged with felony child endangerment for allegedly injecting a laxative into her nine-month-old son’s feeding tube while he was at a Saint Paul hospital because he couldn’t gain weight. The Star Tribune reports that court documents allege 25-year-old Megan Kafer falsified symptoms and induced signs of illness, resulting in the child suffering “numerous unnecessary procedures and even surgeries.” Kafer was arrested after surveillance video in the hospital room captured her injecting MiraLAX into the infant’s feeding tube. Prosecutors say she’d searched on the Internet for ways to kill a child.
