The Minnesota Lynx today announced the expansion of the Lynx Changemakers platform with nVent and Pentair joining Target as inaugural Changemaker partners.  Announced in 2023, Lynx Changemakers is a first-of-its-kind venture focused on building the next generation of female leaders and elevating women’s sports in Minnesota.

“We are so excited to continue to grow this incredible platform with organizations who are committed to empowering young girls and women across the state,” said Minnesota Timberwolves and Lynx CEO Ethan Casson. “As the Lynx continue to serve as agents of change, we have a real opportunity with Lynx Changemakers to leave a lasting impact in our community, while cultivating the next generation of female leaders.”

The team also announced its first annual Changemakers Summit, which will take place Monday, Aug. 26 in Minneapolis and will feature Maya Moore Irons as the summit’s keynote speaker. Moore Irons, a 4-time WNBA champion with the Minnesota Lynx and one of the game’s most prolific players, will talk about her journey from the WNBA to a social justice advocate and the ‘changemakers’ that influenced her along the way. The team announced earlier this year it plans to retire her jersey on Saturday, Aug. 24.

The annual summit will bring together executives, employee resource group leaders, and professional athletes to share inspirational stories and discuss the future development of female leaders. The event will be live streamed for the employee networks of each Lynx Changemaker.

As Lynx Changemakers, nVent, Pentair and Target, are committed to driving positive change throughout the community by combining purpose-driven action with direct financial support to organizations and nonprofits supporting young girls. Minneapolis-based Girls Taking Action™, has been named the first Changemaker Impact Partner, working to empower and educate girls to succeed in school and life.

“Being selected by the Minnesota Lynx as the Changemaker Impact Partner directly reflects all of the hard work we have done to create positive changes in the lives of our youth, their families and community,” said Dr. Verna Cornelia Price. “Since 2005, Girls Taking Action has reached over 6,000 girls across the Twin Cities, the United States, and abroad. We are grateful for this opportunity and partner that gives us new avenues to share our mission and reach even more girls. Together, we are making a positive difference that can change the trajectory of our girls.”

The Lynx will celebrate all Changemaker partners on ‘Changemaker Night’ on Friday, Sept. 13 when Minnesota hosts the Chicago Sky. All partners and Girls Taking Action will be recognized with a special on-court ceremony.

Lynx Changemakers is a team-level program modeled after the WNBA’s successful league-level platform launched in 2020. The platform is designed to transcend traditional sponsorship and pave the way for major local companies to invest in women’s sports in a new way.
