Lynx re-sign Banham

July 6, 2021 By Minnesota News Network

Minnesota Lynx Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve yesterday announced the team has re-signed guard Rachel Banham for the remainder of the season. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. Banham will be available for Wednesday’s home game against the Dallas Wings on July 7 at Target Center.

Banham rejoins Minnesota after appearing in 14 games this season with the franchise and has averaged 4.4 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 11.5 minutes per game. The five-year veteran saw her best game of the season against the Dream on June 6 when she tallied a season-high 13 points from the bench while shooting a perfect 5-of-5 from the field, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. She has registered three contests this season with a perfect three-point field goal percentage, including a 4-of-4 performance against the Sparks on June 12.

The Lakeville, Minnesota native was acquired by the Lynx on Feb. 25, 2020, via a trade with Connecticut. In the 2020 season, she appeared in 20 games (one start) for the Lynx and held an average of 6.9 points, 1.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 17.0 minutes of action per game. Banham, the fourth overall selection in the 2016 WNBA Draft, holds career averages of 4.5 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 12.2 minutes per game in 141 total contests (six starts).
