The WNBA today announced Lynx guard Olivia Miles has been named the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played from Aug. 10-16. The weekly honor is the second of her career (June 9).
During the week, the 5-10 guard averaged 18.0 points, 7.5 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game while shooting 4-of-11 (36.4%) from three-point range and 10-of-11 (90.9%) from the free-throw line across two contests. Miles currently leads all rookies in scoring (19.9 ppg) and assists (6.1 apg), ranking eighth and seventh, respectively, in the WNBA, while also ranking 13th in the league in three-point percentage (40.0%).
The Phillipsburg, N.J., native posted 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds in the 85-81 win over the Portland Fire on Aug. 12. During the contest, Miles became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 650+ points and 200+ assists. On Aug. 15 against the Las Vegas Aces, Miles totaled 23 points on 8-of-15 (53.3%) shooting from the floor, along with eight assists and four rebounds, in the 92-87 victory.
Miles has scored at least 20 points in 17 games this season, including three contests with at least 30 points. She is currently averaging 19.9 points, 6.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 49.7% from the floor and 40.0% from three-point range.
The Lynx will take on the Golden State Valkyries at Chase Center on Wednesday, Aug. 19, at 9:00 p.m.
