(St. Paul, MN) — St. Paul will be home to a new Major League Soccer franchise in Minnesota. Mayor Chris Coleman and Minnesota United promoter Bill McGuire say the team and the league have committed to play at a new 18-thousand-seat stadium in the Midway District built with private funds. Team officials *will*, however, ask the legislature next spring for property tax relief. Promoters went across the river after Minneapolis couldn’t get a deal together for a new stadium.
