Twenty-one-year-old Jake Patterson has been formally charged with two counts of first degree homicide, kidnapping and armed burglary in the aduction of 13-year-old Jayme Closs and the killing of her parents at their home in Barron, Wisconsin on October 15th. Prosecutors say Patterson confessed to the crimes and has a first court appearance this afternoon. According to the criminal complaint, Patterson shot Jayme’s father after he went to the door, then broke down the door to the bathroom where Jayme and her mother were hiding, ordered the mother to tape Jayme’s mouth, then shot the woman in the head. Investigators say he then abducted the girl. Patterson allegedly told authorities the night of his capture that as he drove to his job, he stopped behind a school bus, saw Jayme board it, and knew she was the girl he was going to take.
