A man from rural Ogema has been sentenced to 30 years in prison for fatally beating his girlfriend’s three-year-old son because he was angry the child was crying. The Star Tribune reports 24-year-old Sterling Anderson pleaded guilty in federal court to second-degree murder in the October 2015 death of Steven Warren on the White Earth Reservation. Anderson initially told investigators the boy hurt himself in a fall, but later said he punched and kneed the child. As part of a plea agreement, Anderson avoids the possibility of life in prison.
