A man reported only a minor ankle injury but was evaluated by paramedics after falling 20 to 30 feet inside an abandoned grain elevator near the U-of-M campus in Minneapolis early this morning. Rescue crews found the man trapped in a hole but conscious, and used a harness to pull him out. It’s not clear what he was doing there, but abandoned grain elevators in Minneapolis have been favored by “urban explorers” and there have been numerous injuries and several deaths. Most recently in June of 2015, a woman fell to her death at a grain elevator near the U-of-M campus.
