A southwestern man who threw his wife a “death party” and gave her methamphetamine has pleaded guilty to criminal neglect. The third-degree murder charge against 59-year-old Duane Johnson of Searles will be dismissed under a plea deal in Brown County District Court. Johnson told authorities his wife begged him to take her home from a nursing home to die. Sixty-nine-year-old Debra Johnson was found dead in their home last January. An autopsy showed she died of methamphetamine toxicity. A Brown County judge will decide whether to approve the recommended sentence on August 12th.
